Moderator Posts: 1179 Joined: 16 Oct 2004 | I have purchased this and played it. I found it lacking.. the graphics to me looked horrible and I had them turn all the way up. Somthing about it looked blockish. Could have just been me. Other things I didn't really enjoy. questing was ok had it own built in quest helper pretty much told you where to go what to do. I like a little help but I don't like it pointed out to me. I mean it was a arrow on the mini map and then if you opened the big map it highlighted the area you needed to be in, and it was not a huge area either you would have you look around in. Oh well that was my opinion.

WarCry Choice Posts: 7350 Joined: 31 Aug 2003 | Mythic shot themselves in the foot with a 12-guage when they made WAR the way it is. Like Stotan mentioned, the graphics are awful although they do a decent job of trying to hide this fact. The fact that they didn't put enough quests in the game to get from 1-40 is a disgrace, instead you have to grind mindlessly on boring PQs for hours, not just for influence but for xp too. Scenarios are terrible, they're all equally boring and very poorly designed. Every class archetype (tank, melee dps, ranged dps, support) are identical to their mirror in every way, or their mirror is better then them, and on top of that all the classes in one archetype are pretty much the exact same class. Masteries don't do much at all to change your character, so every Zealot or Sorc is the same as every other one. CC is a joke, yea they got rid of mezzes but they added something much worse, knockbacks. When I played, I saw knockbacks get abused to no end. People wouldn't even fight, they would just knock each other around like morons. Combat was horribly boring. There was no such thing as tactics since they killed the positional combat and combos that were so prevalent in DAoC. I can only speak for playing a healer since that was my highest character, but that was a miserable experience. My heals were downright pathetic in both power and efficiency. The fact that I couldn't cast the only heal that was worth using while being attacked is an abomination and defeats the purpose of even having it. Sieges are ridiculous, I still can't understand why they went backwards from DAoC's sieges. In DAoC, you could smash a hole in any of the walls of a keep, could place siege weaponry anywhere you wanted, and it was infinitely more enjoyable then this crap. WAR, you can only go through the front door, giving the defenders an insane advantage since they only have to cover one entry point, and I think the siege weapon pads speak for themselves. The lack of a real death penalty and the fact that you could respawn and get back to the battle in under 2 minutes anywhere in the game made is so there is no real winners of a battle. Finally, I would urge everyone to read an article posted in another thread that isn't getting anywhere near as much attention as it needs. http://www.pvpdaily.com/?p=81 Well this got a lot longer then I intended it to be, but I'm tired of seeing people praise this piece of crap. If you played DAoC, you know what real RvR is. The so-called "RvR" and "siege combat" in WAR makes me sick. Mythic should be ashamed of this garbage. |
