Man pre orders like this are such a rip off. There's nothing good in there. A book? Who wants to read a book? They should give more in-game stuff.

The in game stuff is largely the 12 bonus quests each one of which gives a custom title and item as well as the 12 custom heads amounts to a fair bit of in game stuff when you consider most mmo's only give a single in game item or two in the collectors editions.

Sounds pretty cool, even though I usually get the "normal" version. Only I found one line funny, "preorders get access to the open beta". Isn't it open as it is? :)

Chadrew, the beta is "open" to the public, which means they are ready to let non-developers and non-press play and give their feedback on the game, but there are limited spots for it. You can take your chances by just signing up and hope you get picked, or you can get a spot in a number of waves.

-Buying a pre-order Collectors edition.
-Win a beta code from the Graphic Novels they sell from scratch off cards provided from them.
-Get them from a Sponsor site if you are a member there.

There might be a few more ways, but none I'm 100% sure on.

Then short answer: Not everyone in the public is going to be able to play the beta.

It's technically still in the "closed closed" phase of beta. The "closed open" beta will be when they start inviting people in much larger groups then they are now, and that's when the collector's edition pre-orders will get in.

This came from the FAQ section of the www.warhammeronline.com "open beta" section

What is Open Beta?: Unlike many traditional "Open Betas" WAR will only be available to a limited number of players (Including Collectors Edition Pre-Orders). Open simply means that the NDA will be lifted allowing testers to freely share their experience with the public.
