Thats right everyone. The day of Reckoning is upon us! By Reckoning, of course I mean, Warhammer Online "The Age of Reckoning" Beta signups are here!

Welcome to the Beta Center for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.

To register for the North American Closed Beta Test, please complete the form below and create your Beta Center account. All fields except the Extended Address are required.

There are a limited number of Closed Beta spots available and not everyone that applies will be admitted. Closed Beta testers will be selected based on a variety of factors, including computer system specs, game experience, newsletter subscription, and community involvement. The Closed Beta is limited to players 18 years of age or older, and requires the acceptance of the Beta Test Agreement located at the bottom of this form.

"community involvement"? how do you get involved in something when theres nothing there to get involved in yet?

This would be one of those "community involvement" things would it not? I mean I know they said as with DAoC they would not have company run forums so they look for Fan sites to carry that out right?

it's strange. all this time i couldn't wait for beta, and now i don't even know if i want to apply or not =(.

Why the change of heart?

i hate to be disappointed. if i sign up and really really hope i'll get in, and then don't, i'll feel bad. and besides, what am i going to tell them in the "tell us why we should let you beta test our game" field? should i tell them that i just can't wait for the game and want to play it NOW, or should i lie through my teeth and tell them how i've been beta testing MMOS for the past decade and wish to use my uber beta testing skills to help them improve the game?

when beta test signs up are like that, it basicaly comes down to these "unknown criteria", and in this case the community involvement might be one of the biggest. since i have heard of WAR, i haven't been to any of the fan sites save this one, much less get "involved" in them.

and then i wonder if i really want to beta test WAR. WAR is supposed to be something really great when it comes out. if i go and beta it, work out all the flaws and glitches like a good little tester, get to know the game from the inside out, what will be left of it when it launches?

is this for the NA testers only? cause i didnt see it in the european sign up (at least the german one).

and for the rest of your worries, i think they should not stop you from signing up. sure when the game starts you will have seen the landscapes and all but as WAR is about RvR/PvP you still should have enough reasons to continue enjoying the game. you might feel a little out of place in the beginning but once the other players catch up in terms of game handling you should be looking at nearly endless fun in exciting fights agains other players.

well, i did go there and register. its just that in the german application i didnt come across this "tell us something about why you make a good beta tester"-from. maybe they only have it for english speakers as other languages would take them too long to sort through??

I was just flat out honest with them. Told them I like doing my part to make sure a game can be the best it can be, but more importantly it's just plain cool to see new games before anyone else. :)

I just say, "I am really cheap, and would love to play the game for free for a few months" :P

you guys remind me of that guy that was applying to work for mcdonalds, and in the application he put stuff like "company president" for "position" and 1million for "salary" and stuff like that, and then got hired for honesty.

or a friend of a friend of mine that got hired to work at some store when she went in for an interview all dressed up as emo with black makeup, a spiked collar and all that, and then got hired for "being induvidual" or some such crap.

I just told them that if I didn't get to be in the beta, then my axe would reap their souls for Khorne! That should get their attention.
